Car hire is Becoming Greener – Eco Car Hire

The demand on all of us to become more environmentally friendly and conservative with energy is being reflected by car hire companies increasing the amount of eco-friendly cars they offer.

According to Earth Times, car hire fleets are now including hybrid cars and flex fuel vehicles – cars that are capable of accepting more than one type of fuel.  For some companies these cars penetrate through the entire range of cars on offer.  From small eco cars to mid sized and large sedans all the way through to large SUV’s and luxury hire cars.

Released this morning a press release published on Financial Times announces that Enterprise Rent-A-Car has just made a purchase order of 500 Leaf electric cars from Nissan.  Seems as though Enterprise Rent-A-Car, are following in the footsteps of a similar order made from Hertz.

This leads you to ask whether these companies are acting in the best interest of the environment or are they trying to segment themselves and win over environmentally concerned customers.

Whatever the company’s motives are for purchasing more eco friendly hire cars, the future of car hire is looking greener and it is a positive step forward.  How long will it be before every car hire company is doing the same thing?
